Webinar: MICROBES – FUNGI – BACTERIA – VIRUSES: WHAT CAN LASER THERAPY DO?

£6.00

This lecture will cover all aspects of use of lasers and their antimicrobial clinical benefits. At a time when we have no new types of antibiotics developed in over 30 years, and an era seeing an increase in resistant super-bugs or pandemics viruses, perhaps we need to look at modern medical lasers as a suitable option for anti-microbial efficacy.

The webinar will start on the use of surgical lasers and through ablation and surgical incisions, and their ability to accurately undergo surgical procedures with opportunity of secondary infection. Next the use of Photodynamic Therapy - the utilisation of photon energy and highly absorptive chemotherapeutic molecules to destroy pathogenic antimicrobial cells whilst preserving normal tissues. Finally we will investigate Photobiomodulation (Laser Therapy) and what we presently know in relation to different wavelengths effect on viruses, bacteria and other pathogenic organisms, and biostimulation of our own immune system to combat infections.

This webinar is presented by Dr Stephen Barabas, Laser Therapy Consultant at Guys' and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and director of VBS Direct and VBS Medical Ltd.
