ibromyalgia and CRPS are much undiagnosed conditions that affect millions of people worldwide. Often due to a previous injury or chronic pain, abnormal nerve cell pain perception-transmission and modulation develops over time, resulting in excess perceived pain from one or more body locations. Currently there is no cure for this condition, however there are treatments to ease some of the symptoms and help to manage this condition and improve the quality of life of individuals. Photobiomodulation Laser Therapy has been proven to achieve pain relief both over the local perceived affected area, but long-term clinical application over the central nervous system can modulate the transmission and modulation of the afferent and efferent nerve impulse transmission. This offers management options that drugs and therapy alone are unable to achieve, and can be a very useful tool in multi-modal control of this challenging disorder. This lecture will look in depth at the mechanism of laser photobiomodulation action, treatment protocols, published papers and case studies will be reviewed with the latest core science and clinical research.
The webinar is hosted by Ms Antonella Chierchia, Laser Therapy Consultant, lecturer and researcher, at Guys’ and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
